I’m Brendan, creator and founder of Hard Road, a comprehensive Catholic Men’s Self-Development program. My simple framework, built on Christian principles, will revolutionize your spiritual, mental, and physical fitness. You will become the man God is calling you to be!

“Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the road is easy that leads to destruction, and there are many who take it. For the gate is narrow and the road is hard that leads to life, and there are few who find it.”

Matthew 7:13-14

My name is Brendan. I am Roman Catholic, 35 years old, father of 8 children, and have been married to my beautiful wife Sarah for almost 14 years. I am a US Navy veteran of 13+ years, published author, and fitness and leadership expert.

I can also help coach you to transform your spirit, mind, and body.

I created The Hard Road to 1) keep myself accountable to daily taking up my cross and 2) to help share with men what I’ve learned through the joys and pain of real life as a man, husband, and father.

Although externally I was doing very well in my family and professional life, in reality I was a mess. I drank too much and lied about it to my wife and family. I was tempted to veer from my marriage vows. I binged on the weekend and thought I could “earn” my vices during the week. I could be short and temperamental at home. I excused myself by saying that my drinking or my binging weren’t big deals, that I was doing enough at work or at home to “make up,” for any shortcomings.

I would cycle through phases of sobriety and focus. However, I ended up hitting rock bottom. My drinking caught up to me. I caused incredible pain to my family. God called me on my nonsense. He beat me upside the head with some serious “opportunities for growth.”

I am a work in progress, just like you.

Crystallized through pain, I have learned and incorporated foundational practices and truths that help me be the best version of myself. Only by being the best man I can be, can I be the type of husband and father that my wife and children need me to be.

The Hard Road is a growing community of like-minded men seeking to better themselves through discipline - a discipline built through purposeful actions daily to improve spiritually, mentally, and physically, so that the Family, the Church, the nation, and the world can thrive.

Conversion NOT transformation!

We have been called by the Savior, “If any want to become my followers, let them deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.” (Matthew 16:24-26)

We are called to a continual conversion. We are called to commit each day - each and every day - to be the best version of ourselves. How are you doing?

What is the answer?

I have some bad news. YOU are the problem to your personal struggles. However, I also have some incredibly good news. YOU, and only YOU, are the answer to your problems. We have confidence in God that, by daily taking up our cross, by choosing voluntarily to take the hard road, by living a life of self-denial and love, we can reap the Fruits of the Spirit, “love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.” (Galatians 5:22-23)

You probably aren’t going to change the world. At least not in one fell swoop. But you ABSOLUTELY CAN change, can CONVERT, yourself. And there is NO LIMIT to how much good that can potentially do in your life, for your family, for your church, for your workplace, for your community, for our nation, and ultimately, for the WORLD.
